In her own words:
Hello, I am Little Miss SCV, Mariah McKenzie. I am 12 years old and recently graduated from Legacy Private Academy.
I have been involved with the Miss SCV Scholarship Program since I was 8 years old. During this time, I have performed over 150 hours of community service. I have participated in numerous charity walk/runs, new business grand openings, sold hundreds of raffle tickets, and met many community leaders, including our city council members and mayor.
Some of my favorite memories include riding in the Christmas and 4th of July parades, helping at the law enforcement chili cook-off, and face painting at the Friday night Jazz Festivals. In addition, I have met so many wonderful girls thru this program, who are great role models, and I admire so much. I know we will have lasting friendships.
This program is more than photo shoots, crowns, beautiful dresses, and fun events. Queens have a big responsibility to be good examples and strong leaders. It has taught me the value of community service and how everyone can really make a difference in their community and for those who are less fortunate.
In my spare time, I enjoy surfing, skiing, scrapbooking, and traveling. My goal is to travel to all 50 states by the time I am 18 years old. Thus far I have been to about 21 states.
I am thankful for the Miss SCV Scholarship program and all the opportunities it has provided me!
Little Miss SCV 2007
