In her own words:
"Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." -Martin Luther King Jr.
I took the first step on November 12th 2006, when I was crowned Miss Teen Newhall. The staircase came just a few months later, as the "Miss Teen Santa Clarita Valley" sash was placed on my shoulders.
Hello, my name is Nicole Ryan, and I am honored and very excited to be Miss Teen Santa Clarita Valley 2007. The Miss SCV Scholarship Program has given me the opportunity to meet new friends, try new things, and become part of a highly respected program here in the Santa Clarita Valley.
This year is different from all the rest because we don't have just one queen but two Miss Teen SCV's! I'm so honored to share this title this year with Miss Kirsten Garlitos. Through our hard work and dedication, we tied both in the pageant, and in the tie breaker. Thank you Kirsten for making this year special, and for joining me in making SCV history!
In my spare time, I love to ride horses in the California Rangers Troop A and the California Rangers Eagle Troop, who currently hold the title of the Western States Grand Champions! In addition to riding, I also enjoy being a part of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church's youth groups such as, LifeTeen, Confirmation Peer-leaders, Jr. High Edge Peer-leader, and Community Builders.
I currently am employed at KHTS AM 1220 which I absolutely love every moment! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to be there! The entire staff is like family, and I am truly grateful for them.
Next year, as I enter into adulthood, I am striving to attend Loyola Marymount University, or University of Southern California. I plan to major in Communications and hope to become a Broadcast Journalist.
This pageant has helped me come out of my "shell," to become a more outgoing and poised person. Thanks to Ms. Mardi, who is truly an internally and externally beautiful lady, for she has made this pageant an experience I will treasure forever. She was and always is there for us girls, and treats us like little princesses, and I know I speak for all the girls when I say, she truly makes you feel special and loved.
Lastly, thank you to my amazing family, especially my parents, for their wonderful example, commitment, and love. Without them, I wouldn't be who I am today.
I encourage every girl to join the pageant family, so that they too may discover their highest potential, and develop into the beautiful young lady they were meant to be.
I wish each young lady all the wonderful experiences I have had.
May God Bless You Always,
Miss Teen SCV 2007
Nicole Ryan
