Miss Canyon Country
Nicole Steinfeld
In her own words:
I am excited and honored to be a part of the Miss Santa Clarita Valley Program. I joined the Miss SCV family in 2008 as I was finishing my senior year of high school. At the time I was active in two choirs at Canyon High School, as well as being the choir secretary. I also had a job working at Color Me Mine, painting with children. I was busy balancing school, choir, work, and a social life, and loving every minute of it. When I was asked to join the pageant I wasn’t sure I had time for it. Not only was I a busy senior, I had never participated in a pageant before. However, the Miss SCV Program is for busy, active young ladies in Santa Clarita. I learned more about the whole process and what the Miss SCV Program stands for and decided it was a great opportunity that I couldn’t pass up. With help and support from Ms. Mardi, my family and friends, I was crowned as Miss Canyon Country in April 2008.
This year has been loaded with a ton of great events and special opportunities in which the other queens and I have participated. From Chamber Mixers to the 4th of July Parade, we have had a blast at some of the biggest events for the Santa Clarita Valley. One of my most memorable events was the Carousel Ranch event. Miss Teen Saugus, Kimberly Patrick, and I had so much fun greeting all the people who attended. After greeting everyone in our cute cowgirl outfits, we watched the presentation of the kids with their horses. All of the kids who attend Carousel Ranch have some form of disability and work with horses as a form of therapy. Seeing these children interact with the horses was a beautiful experience that I will never forget.
Along with the great memories and friends that I have made this year I have learned a great deal about myself, as well as our community. The Miss SCV program is designed to show young ladies how to express inner confidence and poise. In doing so the Miss SCV queens are the best ladies to represent our valley and act as role models in our community. I am extremely grateful to be working alongside these other fabulous ladies of Santa Clarita. I can’t wait to run in the 2009 pageant and continue to stay involved in our community.
